Troubleshooting Tips

Videos

If you are experiencing an issue watching a video, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
  1. Run a speed test to check your internet connection's strength.
    1. If your download speed is less than 5 Mbps, you will not be able to watch videos on the website.
      1. Minimize the number of devices connected to your network. For example, a family member streaming videos could impact your connection.
    2. If you are using Wi-Fi, switch to connecting via an Ethernet cable.
    3. Connect to a different network. For example, use your smart phone as a hotspot.
    4. Contact your internet provider for assistance.
    5. If you are at work and connected to their network, contact your IT team for assistance.
    6. Make sure any ad or pop-up blocking software is turned off – this could be through your antivirus software and/or an add-on in your browser.
  2. Clear your browser cache (temporary files that may need to be updated).
    1. How to clear your cache:
  3. After clearing the cache, close and reopen the browser, then access the meeting website again.
  4. If you have cleared your cache and are still experiencing issues:
    1. Log into the meeting website using a different browser or try using an incognito or private browsing window. For example, if you are using Chrome, try Firefox or Edge.
    2. Make sure you do not have any programs running on your computer that are not necessary.
    3. Click Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open your Task Manager to quickly view all apps running.
    4. Restart your computer/device.

Audio

If you see people speaking in a session but you cannot hear, it's likely an audio issue with your device. Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot audio issues.

  1. Make sure your volume isn't muted.
    1. If you are using a laptop or desktop computer:
      1. Check your keyboard to make sure the mute microphone button has not been turned on.
      2. If your computer is connected to speakers with a physical knob to adjust the volume, make sure it has not been turned down.
      3. Instructions to test audio:
        1. Windows 7
        2. Windows 10
        3. Mac
  2. If you are using a mobile device:
    1. Make sure that the silent button is not turned on.
    2. Open the settings to adjust the volume; the volume for media might be too low.
  3. Make sure you do not have a Bluetooth device connected to your device. For example, the audio might be playing through ear buds in your bag.
